What a competition! What a final day! In terms of the average distance travelled per pupil,  Shiplake Primary Year 1 deserve huge credit for taking the victory and managing to hold off a rampaging Peppard Primary Year 2 and a hard charging Shiplake Year 2. Every day Shiplake Year 1 has increased the average distance they have walked making it so difficult for anyone to get close. The average distance every Shiplake Year 1 pupil managed to walk or run over the week was 33.5km. Phenomenal. A well deserved victory for an amazing team of children.

Second place goes to the indefatigable Peppard Primary Year 2 team who put in an incredible average distance of 10.8km on the final day to just overtake Shiplake Year 2 on the final straight. There must have been a huge call to arms by the school to which every pupil answered. Well done Peppard and well done Year 2. Peppard have cemented their reputation as one of the most feared primary schools for long distance endurance events in the country. The rivalry with Shiplake is akin to Coe and Ovett and it helps to make these events what they are.

Bronze position goes to Shiplake Primary Year 2 who, day by day, have been steadily climbing up the rankings until they were just 570m behind Shiplake Year 1 going into the final day. They will be disappointed not to take the title but their fighting spirit and intense desire to win was an inspiration to all Shiplake children. Well done to all the Year 2 children and teachers who fought right to the end.

In terms of the absolute distance travelled, Burbage Junior Year 6 and Burbage Year 5 take Gold and Silver respectively with a total distance of 1,072km and 932km. Strathmore Primary School, making their inaugural appearance, take Bronze with a total distance of 698km. Strathmore has really embraced the event and it was great to have them participating. Burbage, once again, were incredible and are a credit to the Expedition Societies.

Finally, from a school perspective,  Shiplake Primary just pipped Peppard Primary to take the overall school honours with an average distance of 18.39km versus 17.85km for Peppard. Valley Road take bronze with 9.57km thanks in large part to some tremendous mileage from the Year 3 and Year 1 teams who came 6th and 7th overall.

The top 3 total distances travelled by the pupils and teachers at the schools were 2,850km at Burbage Junior, 2,662km at Shiplake Primary and 1,919km at Valley Road Primary.

Thank you very much to everybody for taking part. No matter where you came in the rankings, I hope you have enjoyed the incentive to walk, run or wheelchair in our stunning countryside during these glorious summer days.

If you have just a few moments to provide a testimonial for the website I would be extremely grateful.
